Bold. Bright. Stripes and White: Trends that we Love for Spring/Summer '17

With Summer just around the corner, it’s time to refresh your closet and get ready for the season. No wardrobe is complete without a few trendy pieces to keep your look up to date, so we’re sharing some of our top fashion favs for this summer. Whether you go full out catwalk style, or just tease the trend with some statement pieces, you can try all these looks to be ahead of the curve this season.

Shocking Bright Hues

If you’re into your monochromatic wardrobe, then this trend may fill you with dread but actually, you’d be surprised at just how easy it is to rock. Shocking bright shades are going to be everywhere this season, from the increasingly popular fuchsia pinks to bright yellows and lime greens. You don’t have to wear a whole ensemble of color to try the trend, pick up a bright mini bag to bring an oomph of color to your look, without straying too far from your comfort zone. Beware though, once you’ve got a taste for these brights you won’t look back!

Statement Stripes

Stripes? Yes, please. This season, stripes have been put into bold mode, giving a fresh twist to the traditionally classic trend.  There were no subtle stripes to be seen on the runways this season, go big or go home. Vertical and horizontal, stripes have been taken to another level with  graphic prints, metallics, and matching pinstripe sets. If head to toe graphic stripes aren’t quite your thing, give a quick nod to the trend with a statement striped shirt instead.

The 80s are Back

It may feel like it was only yesterday, but the eighties are back with a vengeance this summer, determined to shake up the catwalk with bold prints and metallic shades. Luckily, all that was wrong with the eighties has been left behind and we are left with some of our favorite nostalgic trends, such as the one shoulder dress, dramatic ruffles, and oversized shoulder pads. Rewind the clock and add a little 80s glam into your life with a statement party dress for a night on the town.

Wallpaper Prints

It isn’t exactly surprising that florals are popular for spring and summer, when are they not? However, for 2017 we are talking head-to-toe wallpaper floral prints. Think plastering your William Morris print into your wardrobe, rather than on your walls. The catwalks were full of absolutely stunning intricate floral designs, starting with hair accessories and flowing right through the outfit, shoes included. It may take a lot of bravery to go completely head-to-toe with florals, but a seventies styled printed jumpsuit wouldn’t go amiss this summer.

One Shoulder

With the eighties back in style, you can expect a lot more attention to shoulder details, and whilst 2016 was full of off-the-shoulder looks, this year it’s all about a one shoulder cut. One shoulder dresses and tops came in all different styles on the catwalk, from oversized 80s shoulder pads to deconstructed shirts. Slightly more comfortable than the completely off-the-shoulder style, you can expect these one shoulder designs to be everywhere this summer.

Floaty Whites

Prepare for the floaty white dress to take over your local shops due to their prominence on the runways this season. It's one of our favorite and most wearable trends. Whether you pair it with the one shoulder trend or go for a more sophisticated maxi dress, you can never get bored with having several of these in your closet.

While it may seem that everything has been taken up a notch (or ten) this season, you can still comfortably try the trends with just a few statement pieces. Remember: Confidence is key, so have fun with the trend, but stay true to your personal style.
